Press Release

(February 18, 2009) Tea Party Charitable Foundation and Tea Party and Things Inc., an African American greeting card business to be featured in infomercials throughout February on the Tyra Banks Show Black History Month programming. The infomercials focus on community service and entrepreneurship by young women in the black community.

Tea Party Charitable Foundation, Inc. was founded in 2004 by University of Maryland sophomore Kiara Carty and Piscataway High School freshman Nia Carty, when their mother Deborah Muse-Carty challenged them to do something to help others less fortunate. They decided to do something that had an immediate and beneficial impact on families. The result is an Annual Mother and Daughter Charity Tea and Clothing Drive. Mothers and daughters are asked to bring used clothing in good condition that is donated to a girl their age or size. Mothers, daughters, Sisters, Aunts and Grandmothers enjoy poetry, tea and a variety of cakes while strengthening their relationships and contributing to a worthy cause. This years event will be held on Sunday, May 31, from 2:00-5:00pm at Embassy Suites in Piscataway, NJ. Tea Party and Things, Inc. greeting cards were created to support the charity. The greeting card line represents the uniqueness of the African-American family, as well as all families. The card themes are as multi-cultural as the world we live in today. The sisters are committed to donating a % of all profits to charitable causes. See www.teapartycards.com for more information.
