Tea Party Charitable Foundation, Inc. was founded in 2004 by sisters Kiara and Nia Carty, when their mother challenged them to do something to help those less fortunate. They learned that often children are removed from troubled homes with only the clothes on their backs. To assist these children locally and globally, the sisters decided to do something that had an immediate and beneficial impact on families. The result is an Annual Mother and Daughter Charity Tea and Clothing Drive, managed by Tea Party Charitable foundation, Inc. Mothers and daughters are asked to bring used clothing in good condition that is donated to a girl their age or size. Mothers, daughters, Sisters, Aunts, Grandmothers and Friends enjoy poetry, tea and a variety of cakes while strengthening their relationships and contributing to a worthy cause.
In 2006 the foundation created the "Stepping out on Faith Award" to honor women from the community in the areas of Community Service, Entrepreneurship and Special Achievement. The foundation has also awarded book scholarships to deserving female high school graduates.
